Resin Bound Path in Sale, Manchester and Wheelchair Ramp Built to Create a Practical, User-Friendly Space.!
Resin bound aggregate is a great choice for the surface of communal areas, whether it’s in a park, outside an office/commercial setting, or as was the case with a recent project, the communal area of a nursing home. That’s because it is durable, permeable and low maintenance. It’s safe too because it doesn’t get slippery in the wet so is the ideal surface outside a nursing home where lots of unsteady feet could be potentially walking over it! It’s also aesthetically appealing.
Our clients wanted to revamp their outside space and opted to have a resin bound path in Sale, Manchester leading to the front door of the property as well as a wider sweeping path along the front. They also wanted a wheelchair ramp. The existing space was looking tired and old and needed updating to make it a more practical, user-friendly area. Using different materials to improve the look of the outside space can help to make a good first impression for visitors to the home too. Resin bound aggregate is the perfect choice.
For their resin bound path in Sale, Manchester our clients decided to have St Ives blend aggregate from the new Vuba range of resin bound aggregate. Before we laid the aggregate, we fully excavated the area and added No-fines concrete. This is a specialised concrete mix that omits fine aggregates like sand from the usual concrete mixture. It’s highly porous, so results in a permeable concrete, which is the ideal base for a resin bound path in Sale, Manchester, making it SUDs compliant.
Once we had prepared the area for the path and ramp, we framed the edges by using KL block edging in charcoal grey and then mixed and laid the resin bound aggregate. The charcoal grey of the kerb stones picked out the grey in the resin, nicely tying the two together.
We added new kerbed steps and made a wheelchair ramp to the doors to access the path to the garden. We the applied a layer of crushed glass as the non-slip agent. You can see what the paths and ramp look like from the photographs included. As with all our resin bound aggregate projects, we used 7.5 UV stable kits as standard.
If you are a business owner with little time for weeding and maintaining the space outside your commercial property, using resin bound aggregate for a path, driveway or patio could be an ideal solution. It’s low maintenance.
